The inaugural 'Music on Market Hill' is a collaborative initiative brought to you by The Quay with support from St Peter's Cultural Venue and Sudbury Town Council with a line up of local talented musicians who have all generously donated their time and talents to bring this free, alfresco music-filled day to the heart of Sudbury at a time when we could all use a lift!

This day of song, strings and strumming is designed to lift spirits at a difficult time and remind Sudbury how much talent we have on our doorstep. Sudbury's Cultural venues and creatives are vital to the vibrancy of our town and they need your support now more than ever. We encourage donations to the Quay via the link below and please support the musicians below by following links to their pages.

We ask that you also support local businesses by buying your refreshments in town. Take a look here for a guide of Sudbury's many cafes, restaurants & pubs.  Prado Lounge, The Black Boy and Mauldon's Brewery (pop up bar) will all be open and serving outside on Market Hill on the day.

This is an outdoor event, and will take place weather permitting! Socially distanced tables and chairs will be placed out for visitors.

Thank you for supporting local #SudburyLove

"The Quay is delighted to be involved in this initiative, not only to promote live performance while the theatre is closed but also to work in partnership with other Sudbury organisations to aid the promotion of town centre businesses and serve the local community

Sharon Buckler, Manager, The Quay

"At St Peter’s, we’re keen to develop closer working relationships with The Quay and Sudbury Town Council, to support anything that can benefit the community and help promote Sudbury’s cultural offering, especially during these tough times.  Music on Market Hill is a great opportunity for our local musicians to safely perform in front of a live audience again and will hopefully give a boost to local businesses and the fundraising efforts of the beloved Quay Theatre”

Alli Burke, Development Officer at St Peter’s

Music on Market Hill will take place outdoors, we ask that you follow the guidelines below to protect yourselves and others.

We hope you enjoy the music!

What you must do:

  • Keep your distance - table spacing and configuration will assist with this, once you have a table please refrain from moving to another. If you are standing please remember to distance from others not in your group.

  • Keep your distance from the performers and staging area.

  • Please respect and observe all guidelines in place at nearby businesses.

  • Follow the UK Gov guidelines: gov.uk/coronavirus

What we will do:

  • Regular cleaning - please wait for tables to be cleaned before sitting down. Volunteers will be on hand to keep chairs and tables clean throughout the day.

  • Operate a track & trace system taking contact details from one party member at each (numbered) table.

  • Provide signage and barriers where one way systems are in place

  • Provide hand sanitisation stations

  • Answer your queries, please get in touch if you have any questions.

Parking and public transport: We have ample free parking availble in close proximity to the town centre, take a look at our guide here. If you're leaving the car at home, check the train times here or there is a taxi rank nearby outside the Town Hall.

Toilet facilities: Customers of The Lady Elizabeth and Prado Lounge may use their facilities. Public toilets on Gaol Lane will be open and regularly cleaned on the day.
