Heritage Open Days 2021 in Sudbury Suffolk | FREE TO EXPLORE

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, bringing together thousands of local people and organisations every autumn.  Every September, Sudbury hosts a series of free events, guided tours and 'open house' activities inviting you to explore our diverse heritage, community and history as part of Heritage Open Days. So whether you're local or visiting Sudbury for the first time, It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences - best of all, everything is free!

Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th September | Step into the Sudbury Story

Thank you to everyone who came along for our first Heritage Open Days 2021 weekend! We had a fantastic time meeting new visitors from near and far keen to learn more about Sudbury's fascinating history on our free guided tours - we hope to welcome you back to Sudbury again soon.

Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th September | Edible England & Green Sundays

For the second Heritage Open Days weekend Sudbury we embraced this year's festival theme 'Edible England' - from pub crawls through time, our 'Taste The World in Sudbury' event, a Green Sundays special and of course, more free guided tours!

Sudbury's fascinating Heritage Centre & Photo Archive is open Monday - Sunday throughout the year. Sudbury's Tourist Information Centre is also open and is a great first stop to plan your Sudbury exploration - both are based at The Town Hall accessible via the Gaol Lane entrance.

From Saxons to silk, a must visit for anyone curious about Sudbury's unique heritage. 

​Sudbury Heritage Centre is housed within the beautiful Grade II listed Town Hall. Displays offer windows on the town’s past from the Iron Age to the 21st Century.
