DEFIBRILLATOR CAMPAIGN

Mr Andy Read has launched a campaign, with the support of the Town Council, for there to be 21 publicly available (24/7) Defibrillators registered in Sudbury by the end of 2021. Ultimately everyone in Sudbury should be within 2 minutes of accessing a Defibrillator.

What are the likely costs (approximately)?

Initially: £1500 - £2000 (Machine and Cabinet)

              Plus installation with electricity supply.

Ongoing: £100 every 2 years for pads (or immediately after the pads are used)

£400 every 4 years for the battery.

Please remember if your premises are rented, you will require permission from your landlord.

The installation of Defibrillators does not require planning permission unless your building is Listed. You would then need to apply for Listed Building Consent from www.babergh.gov.uk

What do I need to maintain

Weekly maintenance checks - Sample recording sheets are available.

Does the person who carries out the maintenance need to be qualified?

No, but competent.

Do you have to be qualified to use a Defibrillator?

No, however training courses are available.

Where do I purchase the equipment from?

Would recommend that any businesses (who can claim back VAT) use www.defibstore.co.uk

Recommended Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 fully automatic machine.

Charities and Voluntary organisations can contact www.gryphon-first-aid for more information.

Where do I register my machine?

Once your machine is installed, it should be registered at www.thecircuit.uk this will then be on the Ambulance service register.
