Every £1 spent in our town is worth 400% more to the local economy than £1 spent out of it
The past year has been the most challenging in living memory for our local businesses, and although some fundamental shifts need to happen at national level there is immediate action we can all take locally to turn our high streets around.
The #ShopSudburyPledge is a promise made by you to regularly shop and support local. Cumulative small shifts in our consumer behaviour will have a colossal impact for our local businesses. Many of us have recently discovered some of the fantastic local businesses on our doorstep and this is a pledge to stick with them long term.
Every £1 spent in our town is worth 400% more to the local economy than £1 spent out of it.
This means more local employment opportunities, better customer experiences for you, a more cohesive community and shopping local is an excellent way to reduce your carbon footprint.
To launch the pledge, myself (Rachel Price, Sudbury's Town Centre Manager) and Penny Wilby, owner of the bestof Sudbury are taking the ultimate #ShopSudburyPledge and shopping local EXCLUSIVELY for 1 month. This is partly to demonstrate the quality and diversity of Sudbury's local businesses, but also that we have everything we need, and more, on our doorstep. It takes 21 days to form a habit so this should be more than enough time create a shop local habit of a lifetime.

Now our non essential businesses can open their doors again, it's imperative the local community supports them in every way they can. By making small changes in the way we shop, we can make a considerable difference to our local economy.
