Welcome to the Sudbury Railway Station page.

The Railway Station is situated in Station Road and is a pay train service.

Winners of the Best Railway Station Gardens of the year - 2008

For the past 3 years volunteers Darren Johnson and John Sayers have been working to improve the garden at the Station.  Several awards have already been won and this year they have added the top prize of Best Station Garden in the UK.

John is also on the committee of Sudbury in Bloom, which have helped by supplying plants, although many of the plants have come from John's own garden.

The Railway Authority have also given money to buy plants for the Station and John has a friend who grows plants who lets him have all the odd plants which he is unable to sell.  Thousands of plants were needed to plant out the Stations border which runs the length of the platform, which is two carriages long.

In February of this year John and Darren started on a new area, when National Express agreed to take out a large overgrown hedge that was hampering their efforts.  In just two months Darren, John and a team of volunteers had the hedge area cleared of 50 bags full of prunings and five of rubbish.  By the summer it was planted up with colourful annuals and dahlias.
