Sudbury Council

Welcome to the Council page

Sudbury Town Council consists of 16 Councillors, elected by the Townspeople of Sudbury every four years.

Each year one of the Councillors is elected as Mayor and one as Deputy Mayor. The Mayor and the Deputy Mayor attend many functions during the year representing the town at many civic occasions and fund raising events. You can learn more about the Town Mayor of Sudbury by clicking on the Civic Pages link.

Council

Meetings of the Council are held in the Assembly Room at Sudbury Town Hall on the second Tuesday of each calendar month (except August and December unless there is urgent business to discuss) at 7 p.m.

Annual meeting of the Council

The statutory annual meeting of the Council, in an election year, takes place on the fourth day after the date of the election or within fourteen days thereafter.

In other years the annual meeting shall be held on such a date in May as the Town Council may determine.

Annual Town meeting

Each year the Council holds an Annual Town Meeting, where all local government electors, of the town, are entitled to attend, to discuss Town affairs in general and to pass resolutions as necessary.
